Investing For Income
Fund Supermarkets
Investment Bonds are now able to be linked to 'fund supermarkets'. In simple terms that means that while the issuer of the bond will be an insurance company the investment funds in which your capital is placed will be spread across a wide range of fund managers.
This is a relatively new innovation, that recognises the different roles played by insurance companies and fund managers, and is the result of a market wide collaboration between institutions to take advantage of technology to create 'cross platform' synergy, with both administrator (the insurer of the bond) and fund management companies gaining enhanced investor appeal from the arrangements.
These platforms are available in both 'onshore' and 'offshore' versions, depending on which will suit you best. Offshore options may offer certain tax advantages for investors who are non resident or will become so in the future, but care needs to be taken to ensure that the relevant tax exemptions are not inadvertently compromised.
There are other forms of capital investment that might be appropriate depending on your personal circumstances, and all the main options will be given careful consideration before we make any recommendation.
